Sanford is principal of Steinberg Design Collaborative,
LLP. SDC is a National Architecture firm based in Houston,
Texas. The Steinberg Family has been involved in Multi
Family Architecture since 1957 when Sanford’s father formed
Arthur D. Steinberg and Associates, AIA. Between Arthur and
Sanford’s firms they have participated in the completion and
success of over 2,500 projects throughout the country
encompassing over 600,000 residential units. The firm has
received numerous awards within the Home Building industry
and many reviews by a variety of notable publications over
the years. Awards include: National Association of Home
Builders Pillars of the Industry Awards; Houston Business
Journal Awards; the Austin Business Journal Best Real Estate
Awards; the Gold Nugget Award of Merit; the Houston Landmark
Award; Aurora Awards; Best in American Living Awards; and
the Top Multi-housing Architect Award. The firm has been
featured in national publications such as: Multi Housing
News – “Design Excellence” for 2004 (One of Eight Chosen)
and “Making Renters’ Wishes a Reality” for 2007 ;
Multifamily Trends for 2002 and 2007; Multi Housing News –
“Top 100 Multi Family Architects to Watch” for 2003; 2004
and 2005; the Houston Business Journal for 2002, 2003 and
2004; and the Austin Business Journal for 2006 and 2007.
Sanford received his Bachelors of Environmental Design as a
graduate of the University of Colorado and completed a
Masters of Architecture at the University of California in
Los Angeles where he also received the Dean's Award.
Sanford has been a speaker and "meet the expert" consultant
for the National Association of Home Builders, Pacific Coast
Builders Conference, and Pillars of the Industry Conference,
Multi Family Brainstorming Conference, and the Multi Housing
World Conference. He has been an Executive Committee Member,
National Chairman of the Design Committee, National Director
and is currently a Trustee for the Multifamily Council for
the National Association of Home Builders. He is National
Chairman of the Multi Family Housing Sub-Committee for the
AIA and has been appointed to serve as a member of the
2006-2011 Advisory Group of National AIA Housing and Custom
Residential Knowledge Community. He has also served on the
Board of Directors for The Society of the Performing Arts
Houston and has recently joined the Inaugural Board of
Directors for the Houston Dynamo Charities and Baylor
Hospital Teen Health Clinics Men's Advisory Board.
