Valerie began her career in the multifamily industry leasing apartments in 1989, during summers between college semesters. A natural affinity for the business led her to pursue property management full-time upon graduation, which then led her to Walden Residential Properties in 1992.
As a Leasing Consultant for Walden, in 1993 Valerie was awarded the Tulsa Apartment Association’s Diamond Award for “Most Outstanding Leasing Agent.” She was eventually promoted to Assistant Manager, and then to Regional Marketing Facilitator for the Oklahoma Region, with responsibilities for seven properties. Valerie advanced shortly thereafter to the Regional Marketing Director position for Oklahoma and Dallas, with training and marketing responsibilities for 22 communities.

Upon moving to California in 1998, she served as Director of Client Relations & Market Development for 3Plus, LLC, the ancillary services division of Western National Group. This was a shared position, with her other role as Director of Training for USIWest, a utility billing company and investment of 3Plus. These shared roles enabled Valerie to see the business from both a client and vendor side. She was instrumental in team development and employee motivation at USIWest (now Ista), which continues to be her passion today. Valerie is a positive motivator, combining creativity and enthusiasm with strong relationship skills. She has served as Facilitator at the Multifamily Pro Brainstorming events for the past ten years.

In April 2005, Valerie joined forces with former USIWest Vice President, Yvette Poole, who has a tremendous background and expertise in the property management industry. Yvette Poole & Associates was founded based on the need for business consultants who can put together programs which enable a company to address business issues and implement creative solutions. Some of their endeavors include: Training, Marketing, Consultation, On-Boarding, Special Projects, Facilitation, Human Resources, Team Building and Corporate Retreats. YPA acts as an invaluable resource to help tackle nearly any business or personnel issue a company may encounter.
